Valeton Modifier — RC9 firmware and FIX3 Android app
==================================================

One portable Windows 10/11 x64 EXE for GP-150 firmware, GP-180 firmware
and the shared ValetonSuite Android APK. All runtime dependencies included.
Runs offline without Python, Java, Android SDK or administrator privileges.
The EXE is not Authenticode-signed. Keep this README beside it.

Use
---
1. Run ValetonModifier.exe.
2. Browse to one or more original files. Leave unused input fields blank:
   - GP-150 Firmware V1.1.1.bin
   - GP-180 Firmware V1.1.1.bin
   - Valeton Suite V2.1.0 for Android.apk
3. Choose an existing output folder, preferably an empty folder.
4. Click Create & verify selected and wait for SUCCESS.
5. Flash the resulting firmware separately with the official Valeton Suite.
Install the APK separately on a supported 64-bit Android phone.

The modifier never flashes a device, installs an APK, changes presets,
overwrites originals, or overwrites an existing output file. Other versions,
altered originals and already patched files are rejected. Do not rename a
GP-150 image to use it on GP-180: each output is specific to its model.
All chosen inputs and output paths are checked before creation starts.
If a later file fails, previously verified outputs remain, identified in the log.
Allow about 2 GB free disk space and 2 GB available RAM for APK processing.
The EXE extracts its runtime into a temporary folder and cleans it on exit.

Block controls
--------------
On the device, select the block you want to control:
- Single press: with its effect set to None, press PARA briefly to cycle
the block type. Then choose an effect from that type.
- Hold PARA: open the original block-movement operation to change the
block's position in the signal chain.
- 3 taps: press and release PARA three times quickly on the same block
to reset it to the type belonging to its original physical slot.
This is a block-type reset, not a factory reset or a preset restore.
PRE, WAH, DST, NR, EQ, MOD, DLY and RVB can occupy the supported positions.
AMP is available only in its original position, N-S only in N-S, CAB only in
CAB, and Volume only in VOL. These positions can also host other types.
Duplicated effects retain separate physical block identities and parameters.
Firmware performs DSP/RAM admission. Exact remaining RAM is not previewed
by this APK; a refused change is read back from the device.

In the APK, the bottom Block type dropdown is a separate type-change action.
Select None for the current type, choose the next type, then choose a model
or effect from its list. Native N-S imported names are used in the list and
effect card. Use the existing preset, parameter, bypass and chain controls.

Verification
------------
The modifier checks exact original and output SHA-256 hashes and rereads
saved files. Firmware also passes decompression, region bounds, seven region
CRCs and container CRC. APK reconstruction checks every entry, compression,
ZIP CRCs and the complete signed output hash. The reference APK has verified
v2/v3 signatures and 16 KB ZIP alignment; no signing key is shipped or needed.
These checks establish exact reproduction, not exhaustive device/DSP safety.
The firmware remains experimental. User device tests do not cover every
effect combination; validate your own presets before relying on it live.

Optional command line (windowless; use a new report filename)
-----------------------------------------------------------
ValetonModifier.exe --check --report check.json
ValetonModifier.exe --create gp150 "original.bin" "new150.bin" --report result.json
ValetonModifier.exe --create gp180 "original.bin" "new180.bin" --report result.json
ValetonModifier.exe --create apk "original.apk" "new.apk" --report result.json
ValetonModifier.exe --verify apk "new.apk" --report verify.json
Use gp150 or gp180 instead of apk to verify a firmware output.
Exit code 0 indicates success; nonzero indicates failure.

Distribution and integrity
--------------------------
Share the EXE with this README. Recipients supply their own original files.
The package contains copy/literal patch instructions, not complete original
or modified vendor images. It contains no private Android signing key.
Optimized bytecode, renamed engine internals and executable/component hashes
provide lightweight analysis deterrence and corruption checks. They do not
prevent reverse engineering and are not DRM or publisher authentication.
No anti-debugging, telemetry, machine binding or network downloads are used.
This is an unofficial tool, not affiliated with Valeton. Preserve the
included third-party copyright/license notices when sharing the package.

============================================================
A. HISTORY OF THE SOFTWARE
==========================

Python was created in the early 1990s by Guido van Rossum at Stichting
Mathematisch Centrum (CWI, see https://www.cwi.nl) in the Netherlands
as a successor of a language called ABC. Guido remains Python's
principal author, although it includes many contributions from others.

In 1995, Guido continued his work on Python at the Corporation for
National Research Initiatives (CNRI, see https://www.cnri.reston.va.us)
in Reston, Virginia where he released several versions of the
software.

In May 2000, Guido and the Python core development team moved to
BeOpen.com to form the BeOpen PythonLabs team. In October of the same
year, the PythonLabs team moved to Digital Creations, which became
Zope Corporation. In 2001, the Python Software Foundation (PSF, see
https://www.python.org/psf/) was formed, a non-profit organization
created specifically to own Python-related Intellectual Property.
Zope Corporation was a sponsoring member of the PSF.

All Python releases are Open Source (see https://opensource.org for
the Open Source Definition). Historically, most, but not all, Python
releases have also been GPL-compatible; the table below summarizes
the various releases.

    Release Derived Year Owner GPL-
                    from compatible? (1)

    0.9.0 thru 1.2 1991-1995 CWI yes
    1.3 thru 1.5.2 1.2 1995-1999 CNRI yes
    1.6 1.5.2 2000 CNRI no
    2.0 1.6 2000 BeOpen.com no
    1.6.1 1.6 2001 CNRI yes (2)
    2.1 2.0+1.6.1 2001 PSF no
    2.0.1 2.0+1.6.1 2001 PSF yes
    2.1.1 2.1+2.0.1 2001 PSF yes
    2.1.2 2.1.1 2002 PSF yes
    2.1.3 2.1.2 2002 PSF yes
    2.2 and above 2.1.1 2001-now PSF yes

Footnotes:

(1) GPL-compatible doesn't mean that we're distributing Python under
the GPL. All Python licenses, unlike the GPL, let you distribute
a modified version without making your changes open source. The
GPL-compatible licenses make it possible to combine Python with
other software that is released under the GPL; the others don't.

(2) According to Richard Stallman, 1.6.1 is not GPL-compatible,
because its license has a choice of law clause. According to
CNRI, however, Stallman's lawyer has told CNRI's lawyer that 1.6.1
is "not incompatible" with the GPL.

Thanks to the many outside volunteers who have worked under Guido's
direction to make these releases possible.
